RV Water Heater Repair — Frequently Asked Questions

Why isn't my RV water heater heating?

On tanked water heaters, this is often caused by a faulty igniter, failed electrical elements, failed circuit boards, or improper propane pressure. On tankless water heaters, common causes include improper propane pressure, improper water pressure, circuit board failure, or blower motor failure. Our technicians diagnose the exact cause on-site and let you know what's needed to get it fixed.

How much does RV water heater repair cost?

Cost depends on the specific issue — a circuit board or thermostat replacement is typically far less expensive than a full water heater replacement. We diagnose first and give you a clear price before any work begins.

Does my RV water heater need an anode rod?

It depends on the brand and tank material. Suburban water heaters use steel tanks, which is why they need an anode rod — it corrodes in place of the tank itself and needs periodic replacement. Dometic water heaters use aluminum tanks, which don't corrode the same way, so they don't need an anode rod. Tankless water heaters don't use an anode rod at all, since there's no storage tank to protect. Our technicians service all of these.

Can you come to my campsite or storage lot?

Yes — we're a fully mobile RV repair service. We bring the tools and parts to wherever your RV is located, so you don't need to tow it anywhere.
